97 Buildings in Kalimalang Dismantled

As many as 97 illegal buildings on Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang, East Jakarta dismantled by joint personnel, Tuesday (2/23). The land occupied by illegal buildings will be used to construct Bekasi-Cawang-Kampung Melayu (Becakayu) toll road and road widening project.

It is hoped the toll road construction and road widening project could run smoothly

East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardana, admitted warning letter (SP1) had been given to building owners, as well as demolishment letter. They will not get compensation money or relocation since the land is owned by Perum Jasa Tirta.

“It is hoped the toll road construction and road widening project could run smoothly. So Kalimalang traffic will go back to normal,” he said.

270 Personnel Intensified to Control Illegal Building

The buildings were standing along 2 kilometer of Jalan Kalimalang starting from Kali Cipinang bridge up to Jamiah Syakirin Mosque.

Herman (50), one of building owners, said has lived there for 15 years. Moreover, he rented a land for his business Rp 7 million per year.

“I don’t know where to move. Rent house is expensive,” he said.
